Chrome Extension Privacy Policy

Cookie Parser

A public privacy policy page for the Cookie Parser extension. This page explains what the extension accesses, how that information is used, and what is not collected, shared, or sold.

Effective date: 14 April 2026

Summary

Cookie Parser reads cookie data from the current browser tab only after the user clicks the parse action in the extension popup. The extension uses that data to display cookie names and values locally and optionally copy them as JSON.

What it does not do

Cookie Parser does not send cookie data to external servers, does not sell or share user data with third parties, and does not run remote code. All logic is packaged with the extension.

Privacy Policy

This privacy policy describes how Cookie Parser handles information when users interact with the extension.

1. What information the extension accesses

Cookie Parser accesses cookie data associated with the currently active tab when a user explicitly clicks Parse Cookies in the extension popup. This can include cookie names and cookie values that are available to the page context.

2. How the information is used

The accessed cookie data is used only to provide the extension's user-facing features:

  • Display cookie names and values in a readable table inside the popup.
  • Allow the user to copy the parsed cookie data as JSON.

3. Data storage and transmission

Cookie Parser processes cookie data locally in the browser. The extension does not transmit cookie data to the developer or to third parties, and it does not store cookie data on external servers.

4. Data sharing

Cookie Parser does not sell, rent, transfer, or otherwise share accessed cookie data with third parties, except where disclosure is required by applicable law.

5. Permissions used by the extension

The extension requests the minimum permissions needed for its current functionality:

  • activeTab to identify the tab the user is currently viewing.
  • scripting to read document.cookie from that tab after the user clicks the button.

6. User control

Cookie access occurs only when the user opens the extension and manually triggers the parsing action. Users can stop using the extension at any time by closing the popup or uninstalling the extension from Chrome.

7. Changes to this policy

If the extension's data handling practices change in the future, this page will be updated to reflect those changes before or at the time they take effect.
